In this webinar, Dr. Nicholas Fuggle and Dr. Andrea Singer will review the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected fracture risk assessment and osteoporosis treatments worldwide. They will present findings from global surveys conducted by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO) and the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) focused on the experiences of health care professionals and of patients. The speakers will present the challenges that have had to be addressed in osteoporosis clinical care, detailing real world experiences of how osteoporosis management has been affected by the pandemic. They will also review the challenges faced by patients in accessing care and in remaining adherent to their treatments. Finally, they will discuss strategies for developing tailored management for osteoporosis in a new era.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dr. Nicholas Fuggle is a Dunhill Clinical Research Fellow and rheumatology registrar at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit, University of Southampton, UK, where his doctoral research focuses on the epigenetics of musculoskeletal ageing. He also holds a Fellowship of the Alan Turing Institute and collaborates with colleagues in Electronics and Computer Science on projects related to musculoskeletal computer vision. He sits on the ESCEO Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Andrea Singer is the Chief of Women’s Primary Care and holds a dual appointment in the Departments of Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She is the Director of the Bone Densitometry Program and Medical Director of the Fracture Liaison Service for secondary fracture prevention. Dr. Singer is Chief Medical Officer at the National Osteoporosis Foundation and is active in numerous committees.
