2025 Wisconsin Osteoporosis Symposium: The Bare Bones of Osteoporosis Care

Nationally, over 2 million people sustain osteoporotic fracture annually - a number projected to dramatically increase as our population ages. However, osteoporosis prevention and treatment, even after fracture, is underutilized and guidelines have recently evolved.  Controversies surrounding optimal nutrition, who to evaluate and treat, available medications and other therapies will be discussed. Clinicians should appreciate the variety of conditions that contribute to fracture risk and that approaches to reduce osteoporosis continue to be under implemented. 

This conference is scheduled to be held in-person at the Sheraton Hotel in Madison, WI, and virtually. This program will not be recorded.

Wisconsin Bone Club Annual Conference

The objective of this meeting is to provide up-to-date information regarding diagnosis and treatment for metabolic bone disease and related disorders to specialists and primary care providers who treat patients with these conditions.

The intended audience should have a sound fundamental understanding of bone metabolism. The yearly historical attendance is approximately 50 rheumatologists, endocrinologists, nephrologists, orthopedic surgeons, primary care providers and basic scientists. Physicians in training with interest in bone metabolism are particularly encouraged to attend and present a clinical case.

The format for this meeting will be similar to past meetings. Clinical Case Presentations will be made during dinner Friday evening. Conference attendees are encouraged to submit cases as soon as possible.

The Santa Fe Bone Symposium is an annual forum devoted to advances in the science and economics of osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease, and assessment of skeletal health. Presented by the Osteoporosis Foundation of New Mexico (OFNM), this meeting is for healthcare providers, scientists, and researchers with a special interest in bone disease, and for bone densitometry technologists who seek a high level of knowledge in their field. Close interaction and collaboration between faculty and participants is an integral part of the Santa Fe Bone Symposium.

The 25th Annual Santa Fe Bone Symposium will be a hybrid meeting. This means that they will be in-person in Santa Fe, as well as live stream the sessions for people to participate remotely. All main sessions will be recorded and archived on our website after the Symposium. Registration for remote participation is the same as registration for in-person participation. This meeting is for medical professionals and is not available to patients.

11th Fragility Fracture Network Global Congress 2023, Oslo, Norway

Enlightening fragility fracture care

The program consists of plenary sessions with leading professionals from orthopaedic surgery, geriatric medicine, physiotherapy, nursing, nutrition, and osteoporosis care. The Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) and the congress have a multidisciplinary approach because of the belief that fragility fracture patients get better care when different health professions collaborate. Workshops will bring together experts from different professions to find the best solutions for patients.

Topics will cover the four pillars of FFN; acute multidisciplinary care of fracture patients, rapid rehabilitation, secondary prevention of new fractures, and forming national alliances to persuade politicians and promote best practice.

The pre-congress program on October 3rd will be arranged by the FFN Special Interest Groups, including programs for nurses, physiotherapists and secondary prevention.

9th Central European Congress on Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis

The 9th Central European Congress on Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis will be held online September 28-30, 2023. The program of the Congress comprises of 50 lectures, including 41 in English. Presentations will be made by world-renowned lecturers. The scientific program of the Congress includes the latest data on issues such as: osteoporosis diagnosis and fracture risk assessment, the place of bone-forming and anti-resorptive drugs in the treatment of osteoporosis, osteoporosis in metabolic diseases and in the elderly, problems in long-term treatment, prevention of cancer metastases, fractures in diabetes, fractures osteoporosis, sarcopenia and falls, analgesic therapies and others.

Wisconsin Osteoporosis Symposium: The Bare Bones of Osteoporosis Care

Nationally, over 2 million people sustain osteoporotic fracture annually - a number projected to dramatically increase as our population ages. However, osteoporosis prevention and treatment, even after fracture, is underutilized and guidelines have recently evolved.  Controversies surrounding optimal nutrition, who to evaluate and treat, available medications and other therapies will be discussed. Clinicians should appreciate the variety of conditions that contribute to fracture risk and that approaches to reduce osteoporosis continue to be under implemented.
